In 2008, PROTECTs landmark legislation The PROTECT Our Children Act of 2008 required the Department of Justice to issue The National Strategy for Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction. Both reports can be found here.

For 2018/2019, PROTECT is partnering with Rights4Girls in Virginia as part of the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet Working Group on Child Trauma to address the issue of the sex abuse to prison pipeline and the disproportionate representation of girls of color in the juvenile justice and foster care system. The majority of these marginalized girls have sex abuse histories and prior involvement with the child welfare system.

PROTECT is also pleased to work with the Virginia State Crime Commission on their efforts to study sex trafficking in the state and establish efforts to reduce demand for these crimes.
