BRINGING ACCOUNTABILITY TO THE CHILD PROTECTION AND JUSTICE SYSTEMS

“Sunlight,” said Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, “is said to be the best of disinfectants.” That’s especially true in the child protection and justice systems, where life and death decisions affecting children are made every day out of the public’s sight.

When most Americans go to the polls to elect prosecutors, judges, and the local officials who oversee child protection, they do so without much, if any, information about those public servants’ record on what matters most: protecting children.

Since 2005, PROTECT has been pioneering new ways of increasing transparency and accountability in the child protection and justice systems. Our goal is to put power into the hands of citizens by giving them the information they need about who is protecting children and who isn’t.
